The Wild Rose Press Free Reads

Good morning everyone,
Hope this is the right place to be posting, I am still new to all this.
I just wanted to let everyone know that my short story Kindred Spirits, is a Free at The Wild Rose Press. If anyone would like to read it the link is
http://tinyurl.com/30h2su

This also leads me to ask. Do you think "Free Reads" boost sales?

I'm glad you asked this question. I don't have enough experience to make a judgment. I'm interested to read what others have to say on the subject. Congrats on having Kindred Spirits accepted into the Free Reads Program.

Love the free reads. Gives us a chance to check out fellow writers and see if we want more. So far I'm hooked.

Hi Catherine
Thanks for your insight. I didn't think along the lines of checking fellow writers out, I was thinking more of readers rather than writers, although I guess we are all readers. Have to be to be able to write.
Thanks Lynda for the Congrats, I was pleased with how it turned out.
Regards
Margaret.

Hi Margaret! I have purchased new-to-me authors I might not have otherwise checked out based on the quality of the free reads &/or first chapters they post on various sites and forums.

With the many, many e-publishers and releases, it is difficult to know where to lay your dollars so you get the best entertainment bang for the buck. A free read offers a taste of the authors voice and a better way to judge whether they sing a tune you'll enjoy.

I look forward to checking out your story!

Hi Lainey,
Thanks for that. I have never had the chance to do anything like this before. I did jump in feet first then thought about it later, but I don't regret it now, because over the last few hours several people have emailed me saying how touched they were by the story, so that made me feel good.

Margaret

Hi Margaret,

It's good to see you over here. TWRP isn't the first to offer these teaser free reads. But it's a good idea because as Lainey mentioned it gets your name out to readers and gives them a teaser insight into an author's voice and style. It isn't much different than posting excerpts in the loops--only difference being the short story is completed.

Congratulations on your acceptance to their program.

Hi Aithne,
Another Wild Rose author, how lovely.
Thanks for that, I am pleased now that I did submit, but you can't help worrying sometimes about whether you are doing the right thing or not. I have had several very nice emails readers telling me how much they enjoyed the story, which made me feel good.
I actually got a nice surprise the other day, my Whiskeycreek press historical novel, Savage Utopia, received a 5 star review at Amazon. So, it hasn't been a bad couple of weeks.

Margaret.

Congratulations on the 5***** Review!

Have you looked into the Amazon Shorts Program? Many authors use it to tell backstory and expand upon their character's lives. The small ebooks cost .49 and I hear some are doing quite well. They would also make a great promotional tool.

I plan to use this program when Concentric Circles makes it onto Amazon. Wish me luck. ;o)

There's another little twist I'm working the kinks out of. I received an email regarding articles and using our sig line with story info at the bottom. When I get it figured out, I'll post here and on the WRP Promo loop about it because I think it's a cool idea.

Have a Great Evening.

Thanks Aithne,
I don't recall hearing about Amazon shorts, but it is an interesting concept.

As a reader it gives me insight on how the author writes, and if it gets me hooked then I am definitely going to want to find more of their writing. As a writer it would help to promote my work. There's nothing worse than buying a book you thought sounded good and being very disappointed. You get leery of unknown authors, or ones you've never read before. So I'm going right now to read it. I'll

Hi Suzanne,
I know what you are saying. It is disappointing when you buy a book that doesn't come up to expectations, but what a thrill when you find one that does.
Kind regards

Hi Margaret

(Another TWRP author here) Congratulations on your short story, I've submitted a 'free read' too, waiting to here. As a reader I am trying to find the time to read as many of these 'free reads' as I can, to give me an idea of the 'voice' of authors I haven't read before. I have to admit though that my own is 'pure fantasy, although I usually write science fantasy. Still I guess the style's the same. I'm sure you
garner some more fans after they've read your 'freeread'!
