For those moments when you just need a piece of chocolate cake, but don't have the time to bake it! This is a real recipe and not a joke.

5 MINUTE CHOCOLATE MUG CAKE
4 tablespoons flour
4 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons cocoa
1 egg
3 tablespoons milk
3 tablespoons oil
3 tablespoons chocolate chips (optional)
a small splash of vanilla extract
1 large coffee mug

Add dry ingredients to mug, and mix well. Add the egg and mix thoroughly. Pour in the milk and oil and mix well. Add the chocolate chips (if using) and vanilla extract, and mix again. Put your mug in the microwave and cook for 3 minutes at 1000 watts (high). The cake will rise over the top of the mug, but don't be alarmed! Allow to cool a little, and tip out onto a plate if desired. EAT!

(this can serve 2 if you want to feel slightly more virtuous). And why is this the most dangerous cake recipe in the world? Because now we are all only 5 minutes away from chocolate cake at any time of the day or night!

Thanks so much for sharing this Debbie - it's a while since I've made cakes in the microwave, I used to doe 'steamed' puddings from scractch and they were wonderfully light and moist. I'll copy this and try it out, and will let you know what how it works out!

Well everyone, this recipe is getting mixed reviews. Some like it, some don't. I haven't actually tried it yet so will need to. I say, going by the looks of the finished product, it might not be pretty or the best cake you've ever eaten but if you're desperate for a chocolate snack some late night it will do:) After all, it is chocolate!

Hey Sara, I guess anything done the old fashioned way would be better. But it's nice to know there's an alternate in emergencies:)

Okay everyone...I'm so happy to provide you with another means to your addictions. Just know that I haven't actually made this yet. A friend who has sent me the recipe the other day. Good luck to all! And let me know how it comes out. I'd prefer whip cream over ice cream, though:)

We tried it. It was okay. I will stick to traditional chocolate cake except in emergencies.
