WRITERS and READERS of DISTINCTIVE FICTION(WRDF)

A long over-due hello to all. Sorry but its been a extremely hot, drawn out summer here in blazing Corfu. Since the beginning of June the temp has hovered somewhere between 36 and 40 degrees and I am sick of it. Oh for some rain! I have been lax of late in the blogging dept and I apologise but now, I am ready with some food for thought.
Most of us, at some point during our illustrous careers as authors and dreammakers, are asked....from where to you conjure up your plots, where do your ideas come from? Usual answer? We build on a dream we may have experienced, a chance meeting, an overheard conversation, a personal past history but I wonder...how many of you out there have completed a ms only to find that a couple of weeks later life is mirroring your fiction? Well, folks, this is what is presently happening to me. Ok, the plot isn't exactly the same but the intensity of emotions experienced by my heroine{me}, the romantic triangle she finds herself in..well, uncanny or what! Even down to the personality traits of the hero. It is eerie. For those of you who know me well, you will understand. The difference between my fiction and reality? In my novel I control the outcome. I can walk off into the sunset with my man. In real life I doubt it will happen. Is this what draws us all to creating our imaginery worlds? Is it because in these worlds we are safe from emotional hurt? I would be interested for you all to share your thoughts. Has anyone lived through a similiar, oh so strange experience? Am I living in the Twilight Zone, perhaps?

Wow Vivienne,
No, I have never experienced that before, but your drama certainly sounds exciting. We all envy you living in Corfu, and now a love triangle? Whew, the stuff of dreams. I hope you do waltz away in the hero's arms, but failing that, write a darn good book! All best, Patrice Wilton.
