House Fire

Hello Everyone I’m not a hundred per cent, but I felt that I needed to write to you to let you know that I’m still around and that when I wake up in a morning and find that I’m still able to have my cuppa, I’m grateful for another day on this wonderful world. Well the past month has certainly been eventful for me. First I was informed that my new modernised electric wheelchair will soon be delivered, which is not bad seeing as I’ve only been waiting six months for it. Next I was informed that… Continue

I may be away for a while

Sorry my friends, I may be away from this site for a wee while. I don't wish to talk about medical problems, suffice to say that at the hospital today the young doctor found another large lump and I had a biopsy, he said I have to wait for results, but I know that he knew already as he looked away when talking to me and sounded quite apologetic. He stated that I should go home as he was sure that I had matters that I would want to sort out. I have to return to the hospital tomorrow. I get so tir… Continue

A romantic old caveman

Save a place for me By Mike Coatesworth The sun shone brightly as my son-in-law, Mark, parked the car in the car park of the beautiful gardens of St Gemmas Hospice. After I got out, I waited a while and took stock of my surroundings. An icon of Jesus Christ on the front of the building looking down on all who entered and left the property, gave me some comfort as I prepared myself to visit my sister, Jean. Mark slowly pushed my wheelchair towards the main entrance; I took the opportunity to lo… Continue

A professional review of my latest manuscript

Hello my friends, I have just received this professional review on my lastest manuscript. I must state that this reviewer does not know me, has never spoken or written to me and she was completely unbiased in her review. Mike A professional review “Find a soft spot to land on” By Michael Coatesworth “Find a soft spot to land on” is the life story of a troubled man: his struggle to find himself a place in the world and a stabilising focus for his confused emotions. It could be cla… Continue

Find a soft spot to land on

At the moment my autobiography is with a publisher who I presume is considering its worth in this highly competitive commercial literary market. As yet I have not had a review on this manuscript and to be honest I'm not sure if there is a space in the market for it, but one can only try. For anyone interested, here is the synopsis. Synopsis Find a soft spot to land on By Michael Coatesworth As a child I hated learning and spent most of my time playing truant from school. Being stabbed by my… Continue

A strange day

A woman with two young teenage children is walking and playing with them as they pass the front of my garden, when only a few moments previous, I heard and saw her admonishing the kids and generally shouting at them. When she saw me, her whole attitude changed to one of a caring and responsible guardian. She appears to be worried what other people think and puts on pretence of being an ideal parent while she is in the public eye; god knows what the children think? But they appeared happy enough… Continue

About me

As a boy I hated learning and spent most of my time playing truant from school. One night in 1985, tragedy struck, and I was knocked down by a car and I suffered serious head injuries. After the accident, which left me partially paralysed, and wheelchair bound for the rest of my life, I suddenly found that I had a passion for writing. I just love writing; it's my passion in life, and at the time I drew on my dramatic experiences in life to help me write. My ability to write stories has brought m… Continue
