'Fore shadows claim the dial entire
And new moon climbs to heaven's spire.
This day, the shortest of the year
Marks the spinning of the sphere,
One cycle spent, its seasons done
The solar tale renewed, begun.
But in the hour when seasons turn
That hour when blue candles…

I am writing to wish you all a very happy New Year.
I am happy to let you know that The Substitute Bride will be the No. 1 best seller at Whiskey Creek Press for January. This book - an historical romantic suspense - was such a joy to write. It is great to start the New Year with such good news.
Kind regards and best wishes,

Upon a Midnight Clear along the Thames

This holiday time of year is ever changing. As a child it is full of bright lights, glittering packages, festive music and anticipation. Always the focus on something shiny new when in truth it was the acts small and large that transformed the house,…

A number of people have contacted me after my previous blog post 'A Late Plea for Votes' to inform me that the link to the New Covey Cover Awards led them to a Biblical site that has nothing to do with the awards. Why this should be so I have no idea and must apologize to those who have gone to the trouble to try and place a vote for my cover of 'The Nemesis Cell' in this month's awards.
I've checked the link myself and teh onformation contained…

With just a few days to go to the end of the month, please may I ask any of my friends who haven't yet voted to support 'The Nemesis Cell's' nomination for this month's New Covey Cover Awards at

The superb artwork is by the hugely talented Graeme S Houston and the book is due for publication by 4RV Publishing. As always I sincerely appreciate every vote that comes my way.

I received a wonderful Christmas Present on Christmas Eve. My RWA Chapter hosts a contest entitled Southern Heat. I submitted my ten pages and five page synopsis following the requirements in the fall. The contest coordinator notified me around the end of November or first of December, that I was a finalist. I never dreamed I would make it that far. Then she called me on Dec 24, 2008 and told me check my email. When I did it notified me that I had won the historical category. AND the judge…

When I sent my books off to our winners, I didn't expect to hear back from them. But, actually, they all sent me very kind words of thanks. Wasn't that sweet? Then today, Terri Armstrong sent me this beautiful review as well. Of course, I just have to share it with all of you.
While I'm being "shameless', let me remind everyone that I could use your vote for Payback in Wayback at the NOR Reader's Choice Awards. The link banner is on WRDF'S Main Page. Payback in Wayback is listed…

I'm thrilled with my first book cover! This is for my contemporary erotic romance novella, Kilted Lover. :-)
When kilted caber-tosser Scott MacPherson tosses Leslie Livingston over his shoulder to rescue her from two armed thieves trying to steal her priceless amulet, they are thrust into a deadly but sexy adventure. Though Leslie already has a lukewarm, uninterested boyfriend, her attraction to Scott is white-hot and undeniable. She wants to…

What a Christmas present. I'm over the moon to be able to report that my novel
'A Study in Red - The Secret Journal of Jack the Ripper' is going to be made into a movie! I was contacted by a Los Angeles Motion Picture Production Company who expressed an interest in the Motion Picture/TV rights to the book and after a series of negotiations, I'm pleased to say that a deal has been agreed and Thunderball Films will be responsible for turning my…
