Struttin' his stuff
Glare of lights
Red carpet fashions
Hot tonight
Layers of fans
Line the street
Medicinal mission
Women's treat
Eyes sparkling bright
Wry smile delight
Publicist by side
Just hitting his stride
Acknowledging wave
Traffic staid
All fades to gray
In the spotlight
Adrenaline…

I'm happy to report that
'A Study in Red - The Secret Journal of Jack the Ripper' is still holding on to the number one spot at Amazon UK, in the category of Jack the Ripper Books when you 'Sort by average customer review'. this is a great facility which lets you see which books the readers are actually enjoying, and I think it's sad that this faciilty isn't available on the Amazon US site. You can see the page at amazon UK at…

Early Autumn and so the West Hollywood Book Fair rolls around again. This year was quieter, more subdued than last. Is it the struggling economy or merely some quirk? Fewer attendees, less silly glitz, the day had an air of refinement, openess that was lacking before. Twenty thousand can't be wrong. This is a mega bookfaire. Those folks that dropped by the booth were genuine and interested, most asking how we "California Erotica Authors" were associated.
A loose confederation of…

I finished my fourth novel a year ago, and I feel as if I should be writing another one. After all, a writer writes, right?
I have a synopsis and a great hook, but I just can't get into the story. I don't know who my characters are or why anyone, including me, should like them. I am bored by the minutiae of their ordinary lives and I want to jump right into the extraordinary times that are coming, but I need the preamble to set up the story. I suppose I could start with the last…

Yes!!! I'll be glad to start a new month and hopefully accomplish a lot more this month. New priorities, goals and, hopefully, more writing than I did last month.
Update on what I've been up to for the last week. Still waiting on my edits for LOVE'S TRUE ENCHANTMENT. Hoping to have them soon.
Stuck on a love scene with my werewolf story. (God, I hate having to write one of those scenes, especially when my mind is in the living room while the story is set in the bedroom. Go…

Just wanted to show off my brand new book cover for my Civil War romance,
Confederate Rose. I just signed the contract this past week with The Wild Rose Press.
Isn't it gorgeous?
Here's the blurb:
Disguised as a man to serve with her husband as a soldier in the Confederate Army, Irish immigrant, Katie Rose O'Reilly, vows to remain in the ranks and seek revenge on Yankees after her husband is killed at Sharpsburg. As…

I really don't know where September has gone but I received two lovely reviews lately and wanted to share.
I had a wonderful review for STARQUEST from Writers and Readers' own Amylove:
“This is a wonderfully written book that will keep you on your toes and end with a big smile on your face. An adventure like no other, this is a book that you don’t want to miss big time”.
You can read the complete review at…

My novel 'A Study in Red - The Secret Journal of Jack the Ripper' today reached a position of 10, 754 in the Amazon.UK sales rankings. It's been doing well, but this is the first time it's reached quite such a high position. when taking into consideration all the books listed on Amazon this is a real achievement for my humble Ripper novel, and I'm surprised and delighted to see it doing so well against the masive competition that exists on the site. I'm sure it'll soon tumble down the rankings…

I've gotten a new reveiw from
Simply Romance Reviews, for my short vampire story,
Eternity Waits.
Here's a quote:
"Susan Macatee takes the eternal search for love, mixes it with some vampires and war, and tosses in some reincarnation to top things off. This is a very short read but all in all enjoyable. I look forward to seeing more from Ms. Macatee."

Once in awhile even those of us who have chosen careers that keep us in solitude most of our working lives chance upon the opportunity to stretch our introvert wings and play at being outgoing. One such occasion presented itself as a possibility over six months ago when I received an e-mail asking me if I'd be interested in participating in a Romance Author's panel. The modern edifice that is Cerritos Public Library was to hold a Tea. Friends of…

I just returned from California from an author event at the Cerritos library. If you have never been to this library, it is something to see. I have never seen such a beautiful library, seeming more like a Greek pavillion than a modern library. After getting lost in the huge building, stuck in the elevator and locked in the stairwell with three other ladies, I finally made it to the 3rd floor Skyline room, a…

Yesterday, I came home to find a huge pet crate—big enough for a Great Dane— in the middle of my living room. Curious, I moved closer and a little gray paw shot out from between the bars. I opened the crate and was greeted with purrs and nudges.
My hubby crept down the stairs. “It’s R.T.O.” he said with a devilish smile. R.T.O meant rent to own, one look and I was hooked. There was no way I was giving up the fur ball and he knew it. Sneaky…

I am currently reading Sandra Brown’s book ENVY. It has a copyright of 2001. It supposedly takes place in 2002. Through almost half of the book, there has been no mention of 9/11/2001. Now my point in this ramble is, if it is taking place in 2002 how she cannot know about 9/11. Of course, she didn’t know about 9/11 when she wrote the book most likely in 2000. It just makes one think when they are writing how quick you can date your writing. Mention a VCR and most people look at you as if you… Continue

Name one distraction.
Hum, okay, let's see...Oh, oh, I know, I know.
Having a hurricane come and knock on your door! That will definitely disrupt your creative muse as it's trying to compose a best selling novel! Yes, yes, that is definitely the thing!
Seriously, for two weeks in a row, I tried to finish up my current WIP and both times my plans were zonked by the forces of nature. First, Gustav, who made me leave my home and go to Arkansas, then came Ike. We…
