What is.....love

What is.....love. As romance writers do we really know? Here is a copy of a post I made on my Myspace blog.

What is love? An easy enough question. Then again, maybe not. First off, love is a word. It defines an emotion, a state of mind. What makes one person's emotion any less or more than another's? What is true love as opposed to infatuation, crush, obsession? To me there should be no difference. Love is a feeling, a spiritual connection with someone or something, be he/she/it be… Continue

Memorial Day musings

My maternal grandfather served stateside in World War II – a mechanic for the Navy. My paternal grandfather never served, being exempted from service because he was a mortician and was considered necessary on the home front. He must have felt sensitive about that exemption. When he died in 1995, my father and I found the card from the War Department officially releasing him from the military still in his wallet with his other important items.

His son, my uncle, served as a doctor in… Continue

Writing for Life...

"Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time." –Thomas Edison (who reportedly had 10,000 failures before successfully creating the light bulb).

I'd been chatting with some of my writerly friends last week. We'd been dishing about our struggles and commiserating over the need for patience. There comes a time when the wicked truth descends upon every writer.

Writing isn't a hundred yard dash. Writing is… Continue
