House Fire

Hello Everyone

I’m not a hundred per cent, but I felt that I needed to write to you to let you know that I’m still around and that when I wake up in a morning and find that I’m still able to have my cuppa, I’m grateful for another day on this wonderful world.

Well the past month has certainly been eventful for me. First I was informed that my new modernised electric wheelchair will soon be delivered, which is not bad seeing as I’ve only been waiting six months for it.

Next I was informed that… Continue

I may be away for a while

Sorry my friends, I may be away from this site for a wee while. I don't wish to talk about medical problems, suffice to say that at the hospital today the young doctor found another large lump and I had a biopsy, he said I have to wait for results, but I know that he knew already as he looked away when talking to me and sounded quite apologetic. He stated that I should go home as he was sure that I had matters that I would want to sort out. I have to return to the hospital tomorrow. I get so tir… Continue

A romantic old caveman

Save a place for me
By
Mike Coatesworth

The sun shone brightly as my son-in-law, Mark, parked the car in the car park of the beautiful gardens of St Gemmas Hospice. After I got out, I waited a while and took stock of my surroundings. An icon of Jesus Christ on the front of the building looking down on all who entered and left the property, gave me some comfort as I prepared myself to visit my sister, Jean.

Mark slowly pushed my wheelchair towards the main entrance; I took the opportunity to lo… Continue

A professional review of my latest manuscript

Hello my friends, I have just received this professional review on my lastest manuscript.

I must state that this reviewer does not know me, has never spoken or written to me and she was completely unbiased in her review.

Find a soft spot to land on

At the moment my autobiography is with a publisher who I presume is considering its worth in this highly competitive commercial literary market.

As yet I have not had a review on this manuscript and to be honest I'm not sure if there is a space in the market for it, but one can only try.

For anyone interested, here is the synopsis.

Where has this year gone? I guess when you’re busy time really does fly because mine has certainly taken wing.

WRDF launched in February of 2008 and its membership has grown steadily. I hope that means we are doing something right for our members.

We have some fabulously talented writers among us. I would encourage you to take a little time to visit a couple new pages each week. The photos, videos, blurbs, excerpts, bios, blogs, graphics, and I could go on and on, are super fun and so interesting. No one has an excuse to be bored on this site with so much to read and see.

I hope you’ve kept up with WRDF’S newest features. All are great promotional opportunities for writers and great fun for our readers.

The Tipping Point Workshops (TTP WORKSHOP TAB),
The Contest announcement page (CONTEST TAB)
The Bookmark giveaway page (BOOKMARK TAB)
The Free reads page (FREE READS TAB).

Our book discussion club, LOST IN A GOOD BOOK, is going strong. We’ve had good participation and if you haven’t kept up with some of our adventurous discussion comments, you’ve missed the action.

We’ve also launched a new online newsletter, WRDF Online. Be sure to open and read your copy when it comes. You never know what you might be missing.

Lastly, you’ll notice a new WRDFCalendar Tab on your page. What a nice way to keep all our members notified of current and up-coming events. You’ll notice that Fridays are Guest blog days at Between the Lines. Why not take a moment, check the calendar, and reserve a couple of spots for yourself during 2009. You can request your dates at: promo@lyndacoker.com

Thank you for spending time with us. Stay safe and well,
Lynda

Thanks for accepting me as a friend, Mike. tbh it was your comment about being a caveman with a 'soft side' that made me want to get to know you better! :) My dog lies at my feet when I'm typing and nudges me when he thinks it's time for his food or a walkie> The world would be a much, much poorer place without animals.

Take care,

Hi there! I was reading a comment left by you to someone else and saw you were talking about Ireland.. sorry couldn't help myself but say I love it! I was there in November 1995 and fell in love with the West Side. I was in Waterford, Cork, Shannon, Kilkenny, Donegal, Cair (pardon my spelling). Anyhow, I really wish I could live there! I live currently in Miami, Florida, but I will be relocating to Pennsylvania. I am planning to attend graduate school and major in child psychology and get second degree in writing since I write a lot of drama skits/monologues for children education. :) Anyhow hope we can become friends I am new here so pardon if I don't respond right away.
Best wishes,
Lilly

How lovely that you live on the "emerald isle"!

I do have a speck of Irish in me. *grin* Though my last name is a gift from my very Irish hubby.

Yorkshire, eh? What a lovely place... I've always wanted to travel there. *sigh* Maybe some day...

Do let me know when your book gets picked up!!

Hi Mike,
Actually...I lived in Long Island 45 years of my life.
I moved to AZ in 1995. I live in the Phoenix area which is
growing Rapidly. Winter here is Beautiful--Summer is Brutal
hot--I kid U Not! But the people are friendly & cost of living
is not half as bad as it is in the Northeast/USA!
As far as Reviewing is concerned/ I'm only Reviewing since
2007. However--as a Reviewer--My opinion is this. Some Readers
are excellent & really cover what the book is all about. Some
readers may skim through & review quickly--perhaps maybe
they didn't understand it well, or maybe it's not their favorite
Genre--I do know that Poetry as well as novels can be seen
on a complete different View in comparison to the Next reader.
I don't have the answer to that question--but I know exactly
what u mean. A Book I reviewed last week--I thought was a
Great read/ even though my Fave is not dark fiction/ Bizzaro--
the Author was Talented. However--when I read other Reviews--
I could Not believe the Difference in how others Viewed the story--
Some couldn't comprehend it at all--It was Confusing--but it was
also a Masterpiece if the Reader read it Again!
