Had an Essay Accepted.

I needed a writing victory and got one. It is on a blog called 1st Turning Point and will appear August 31st. It is called Public Speaking for Shy Writers, based on a workshop I have done for my chapter. I may make a book of it and am trying to build a workshop of this. Any suggestions would be welcome.

Writing as a Team.

I write Historical Fiction, Elaine, Romantic Suspense, but we are working on a mystery series together. I can't speak for all writing couples however, we have worked it out. I write the first part, get it out of my system, then Elaine works on her part. They are not published yet, but we are working on it.

Chapter Writers Retreat.

Posted on August 31, 2009 at 8:15pm 0 Comments

Our RWA chapter, Saguaro Romance Writers had its retreat this past weekend in Bisbee, Arizona. Fourteen of us went altogether.

The retreat had a two-fold purpose. For some it is a quiet place to write, away from distractions. For others, it was a place to brainstorm their work with others.

The hotel is called The Gym Club Inn and Suites. It was the YMCA, then an apartment building. It is the perfect place for this, because some of the suites are huge, you can easily live there for an… Continue

No Young Man, A Romance Writers Conference is NOT The Place to Pick Up Women.

Posted on August 31, 2009 at 6:13pm 0 Comments

I posted this on my personal blog in April, '08 after attending the Desert Dreams conference of the Desert Rose RWA Chapter. It was meant to be tongue in cheek silliness and since my Toastmasters protege was asking me about the conference and he is a youngster, I dedicated it to him.

Young man, are you listening to me? (Couldn’t resist the opening like the Village People, but I digress).

You are a male writer (or hanger on) arriving at a Romance Writers Conference.… Continue

It was great having our own Jill Knowles in the morning. Then Emma Bull and Will Shatterly in the afternoon, discussing writing and the fun and the pitfalls. It is great to post here, as folks here know what I mean. :)

Click on RWA Tucson for stuff about our chapter.

I felt juiced and then we hung out at Barnes and Noble after the meeting. Some are looking at my 21k story Griffith, You Are Going into Space, to see… Continue

Many thanks for the link up, Michael. I’m looking at ways where we can help each other promote our material and ourselves. I suppose it begins with good communication. Did you have anything in mind in addition to this? I'm not that experienced in writing but I have a wealth of knowledge about people. This is the cover to my co-written book. You’d be welcome to post yours in my comments box or to the text facility on my page. All you have to do is ask :-)
