Profile Information

Are you a writer, reader, or other industry professional
I'm a reader, a single mother of three, and a YA fantasy author...
If a writer, are you published, pre-pubbed, or self-published?
I'm currently self published through AuthorHouse, but I'm about to venture off on my own and republish under my own company name.
As a writer, what type of stories do you Write or Read?
I currently am writing a YA Fantasy series, but I also have a humorous fiction book that I got sidetracked on when I really should be working on book four in my series... but this other book, a look at my life as an active duty Navy person, then a Navy wife and dependent, and now a divorced veteran, just took precedence!

Also, I'm snatching up every chance I get to market the third book in my YA fantasy series that was just released, "Dragon's Tear: Denicalis Dragon Chronicles - Book Three", as well as working full time, raising 2 of my 3 remaining teenagers on my own (the oldest flew away from the nest [joined the Navy] back in Sept 2007), play volleyball 2 nights a week, AND am trying to find time to write book 4!!! There will be at least 5 books in the series.... of course ONLY if I ever find the time to start writing again ...

I love to visit schools and libraries in New England (I live in Southeastern CT) so if you'd like me to come talk to students or a group of people about reading or writing, please contact me at mjallaire@sbcglobal.net!!!! I also sell bulk orders of books (to teachers, librarians, or anyone who is interested), so don't hesitate to contact me!!!

In addition to my MySpace page link below, you can also visit my website at www.mjallaire.com.

:) Happy reading AND writing everyone!!!

Update on things...

Hello everyone! It's been entirely too long since my last post here and I apologize! My life has been incredibly busy the past few months and as I muddle through my endless list of things I need to do, all I can do is take life one step at a time.

Most importantly, book four in the Denicalis Dragon Chronicles - unfortunately - is still in the beginning stages. For my readers who are patiently waiting for it, I say "THANK YOU!" In spite of it not being anywhere near completion, the ideas are def… Continue

Musings

Well, it's been a while since I've posted a blog and I figured now is as good a time as any to share a few thoughts.

First of all, Happy New Year! It's hard to believe we're already into 2009, isn't it? It seems like just yesterday we all had our emotions in a bind about Y2K and the turn of the century. My, how time flies when we're having fun. Bear with me as I reminisce for a moment...

At the turn of the century, my mother was still alive, I was married, and been living in Connecticut for a… Continue

Marketing Tips to Increase Holiday Sales

Well, Halloween has come and gone and before we know it we'll be stuffing ourselves with turkey, cranberry sauce, and pumpkin pie, among many other delectable treats, I'm sure. Then, if you're like me, as I sit with my family sharing the end of the Thanksgiving holiday, the realization will hit me (like it always does) that Christmas is ONLY four weeks away...

If you're an author, you're probably always looking for places to market your books. For me, I'm lucky enough to have chosen a popular g… Continue

Discounted YA Fantasy Books by the Author - JUST in time for the Holidays!!

Hi all!

As some of you already know, I'm a YA fantasy author and am currently in the middle of writing a series of books for young adults (there will be at least 5 books in the series before I'm finished). My target audience is 8-15 year olds, but I've also had adults (anyone with an imagination, really) read and enjoy the books as well. If you'd like to see more info about me or my books, google MJ Allaire or visit my website, www. mjallaire. com.

In response to the fluctuating economy and in… Continue

Book Marketing Tips

As many of you already know, I'm self-published and currently have three books "out there". I posted this on my good friend and book reviewer Geri Ahearn's blog a little while ago...

Writing your book is definitely the easy part of an author's journey... once you have the book in your hands, getting it out to the readers, especially if you're self-published, is probably the biggest challenge that we as authors have never really thought about (I know I DEFINITELY didn't!!).

One thing I did when… Continue
