CIRCLE OF LOVE

Blurb:
Joanna was a starstruck teenager when she and Peter Damron said goodbye. Now she is Dr. Flemming, a Memphis University professor, single and satisfied with her big city lifestyle...until she meets Pete again. He is a propserous Missouri cottom farmer and windower with five children. The passion between them remains but more than time and distance separate them. Even if they can overcome the many obstacles to their chance at happpiness together, Joanna knows she can never marry Pete now and she dares not tell him why.

Excerpt:
They danced in silence, each acutely aware of the other in every step they took, in every place their bodies touched.

I've missed you, Joanna." Her name was a caress on his tongue

"Don't," she whispered, feeling the pleasure-pain in every cell in her body.

"Have you missed me?"

"I've missed you."

"Why didn't you answer my letters?"

She drew a quick breath as she thought of finding Pete's letters in a lockied drawer in her father's study after his sudden death. Letters with a familiar looped scrawl that bore foreign stamps, now faded with time. She felt again teh sharp pain his words of love and promise had brought. The frustration that caused her to pound her father's immaculate desk in a screaming rage that bruised her doubled fists.

"It doesn't matter now."

"Maybe not." His words sounded unconvinced.

The night, the music, the man who held her seemed unreal but the aching inside was very real. The band began to play a haunting Elvis tune.

"Joanna," his voice was muffled against her ear. She looked at him and saw his longing.
"Let's get out of here."

She noddedd wordlessly. Yesterday was gone and who could know what tomorrow would hold? But she had tonight. She was here with Pete again and there was magic between them as there had always been. She wouldn't think about consequences now. Just for tonight, she would listen to her heart instead of her head.

"Come on." Still holding her hand, he led her across the ctowded floor and out to the dark lot where his car was parked. In the shadows of the gnarled pear tree, he gathered her into his arms and kissed her without restraint.

It wa graduation night all over again. Blooms of silver-white formed a scented canopy that enclosed their moonlit world. Tomorrow Pete would be gone; there was only tonight. How could she tell him how much she loved him when words were not enough? Of its own volition her body found a way.

The long kiss ended. In the awed silence that followed, they held each other once again, the long undreamed of separation over.

So the chameleon and author parallels? He is determined to get into that lanai, just like we should be (getting published). It's warm and familiar and feels like home, just like writing is for us. He'd chew through duck tape, squeeze through cracks, slip in under the door--anything to get into that room. Even thought thought of a crazed person (editors!) chasing him with a flyswatter won't deter him from staying where he knows he belongs. There.

Hi Linda, thanks so much for the compliment on my page, and my name. It's Welsh and your pronounciation is pretty close. It's Hoo - el - ah/ It's my real first name but for some reason I have always been called Lyn, despite being born and living most of my life in Wales. So I decided to use it with my second name as my pen name. I still answer to 'Lyn' but I do like the two together I'd be flattered to have it used in a story, in fact it is a very old name, probably the feminine form of 'Hywel Dda' or 'Howel The Good' an ancient Welsh Chief, so it lends itself well to Historicals.

It's not all that difficult to personalise your page. I used a star picture from the Hubble website, and added the two figures and use it for my backgrouds, but there are some pretty ready made templates on this site, and you can personalise text and colours. If you click on the left hand side of your page where it says 'Change my photo or theme' You'll find lots of choices you can 'play' with.

Cheers,
P>Lyn
