OH MY WHAT DO I DO NOW?

Posted on December 26, 2008 at 1:00pm 1 Comment

I received a wonderful Christmas Present on Christmas Eve. My RWA Chapter hosts a contest entitled Southern Heat. I submitted my ten pages and five page synopsis following the requirements in the fall. The contest coordinator notified me around the end of November or first of December, that I was a finalist. I never dreamed I would make it that far. Then she called me on Dec 24, 2008 and told me check my email. When I did it notified me that I had won the historical category. AND the judge… Continue

Writing your book in the future- sort of

Posted on September 23, 2008 at 12:27am 2 Comments

I am currently reading Sandra Brown’s book ENVY. It has a copyright of 2001. It supposedly takes place in 2002. Through almost half of the book, there has been no mention of 9/11/2001. Now my point in this ramble is, if it is taking place in 2002 how she cannot know about 9/11. Of course, she didn’t know about 9/11 when she wrote the book most likely in 2000. It just makes one think when they are writing how quick you can date your writing. Mention a VCR and most people look at you as if you… Continue

Where has this year gone? I guess when you’re busy time really does fly because mine has certainly taken wing.

WRDF launched in February of 2008 and its membership has grown steadily. I hope that means we are doing something right for our members.

We have some fabulously talented writers among us. I would encourage you to take a little time to visit a couple new pages each week. The photos, videos, blurbs, excerpts, bios, blogs, graphics, and I could go on and on, are super fun and so interesting. No one has an excuse to be bored on this site with so much to read and see.

I hope you’ve kept up with WRDF’S newest features, The Tipping Point Workshops, our contest announcement page, our bookmark giveaway page, and our free reads page. All are great promotional opportunities for writers and great fun for our readers.

Our book discussion club, LOST IN A GOOD BOOK, is going strong. We’ve had good participation and if you haven’t kept up with some of our adventurous discussion comments, you’ve missed the action.

We’ve also launched a new online newsletter, WRDF Online. Be sure to open and read your copy when it comes. You never know what you might be missing.

Lastly, you’ll notice a new WRDFCalendar Tab on your page. What a nice way to keep all our members notified of current and up-coming events. You’ll notice that Fridays are Guest blog days at Between the Lines. Why not take a moment, check the calendar, and reserve a couple of spots for yourself during 2009. You can request your dates at: btlblog@lyndacoker.com

Thank you for spending time with us. Stay safe and well,
Lynda

Read your writing aloud before sending it off to the editor and never trust your spellchecker.

I am not sure where to post this at but if any of you are interested I was sent this link to Amazon and it was really funny very interesting. Readers were discussing things they DON'T LIKE in Romance Books. I thought it was funny and something we might(saying as a future author here)give some thought to. http://www.amazon.com/tag/romance/forum/ref=cm_cd_emf_tft_tp?
