WRITERS and READERS of DISTINCTIVE FICTION(WRDF)

This may not be poetry per se but it's certainly poetic. If you support the growing number of people who are opposed to Rupert Murdoch and his son controlling the world media, then give the little quotation below some thought.

This man and his greed disgusts me to the point where I have to express my revulsion.

"Corporate and governmental power is political; people power is anecdotal" ~ Jasper T. Nicoli.

He seems  to have forgotten that there are more of us than there are of them. :D  Just saying...
I couldn't agree more with you Mike. Perhaps, before he makes such harsh comments, as Judith clearly put it, WE are the Majority.  His train of thought is not only Irritating, but scary as well.   Thank you for Sharing!
Most industrial tycoons are driven by the need to be the biggest and the best and will be totally ruthless to achieve their ends.  Whether by desire or as  by product they they often improve peoples lives by creating employment and other benefits. Murdoch is no different. He provides employment for thousands in his newspapers and led the way with satellite TV at a time when few believed it would be a success. The News of the World scandal is horrific but it's said the coming weeks will show such practices are rife throughout fleet street. As a man Murdoch is probably  unpleasant and unpopular  but these traits are common to many in power.

There is always a void and that void will be filled by someone else -- someone who can create a platform whereby the media requirement is accommodated but without the ruthless attitude taken by the greedy Murdochs and their kind.

I don't totally agree with what you have said here, Simon as to me it is tantamount to endorsing this kind of behaviour when in reality it causes heartache and stress to many people. Yes, there are more worms in the woodwork but I bet only the Murdoch empire can create so much havoc to society. They are parasites of the highest order.

The quotation I posted was to emphasize how people power can overcome this. Sheeple will not always be sheeple and the more we discuss and bring this out into the open the better. Let's not talk as though what the Murdoch's are doing is totally acceptable just because the world is the way it is.

It is time for change and that is beginning to happen slowly. Perhaps we should all talk more positively and maybe ask for help to be given to the controlling factor within our midst?

I take your point Mike, but Beaverbrook, Northbrook and Thompson were all of the same ilk with arch crook Maxwell a runner up. Such men exist in all walks of life some good some bad and whether intentionally or not the world is often a better place because of them. Two good examples of past and present being Carnegie and Gates.

Don't agree with much of this either. The names you mention are all parasites past and present. Perhaps you support capitalism more than I do. The world is the way it is because of these people. They are connected to corporate business, the banks and the conglomerates who create wars and control most of the western world. It doesn't have to be this way.

As for Gates? Well I've read about his ruthless days climbing the ladder of 'success.' Now his conscience is taking him down a different route -- one which makes it easier to justiify his present 'charitible' life as he slowly moves away (and down) from that 'successful' ladder.

You have to give before you can receive. This philosophy does not ring true with the vultures of today who are able to manipulate the masses and convince them to give their power to someone else -- namely them. What do they get in return? I'll tell you. A shit load of lies, deceit and corruption.

Think this is a correspondence that could go on for some time! Probably best just to agree to disagree.
