Geri: When did you first realize that you wanted to be a writer?
MJ: Back in 2005. I sent an email to one of my friends. She told me I should think about
writing a book. From that day forward, my life has changed.
Geri: What type of books do you enjoy writing?
MJ: So far, the books I've written are the first 3 in my YA/Fantasy series! But, I've got a
couple of other books in my imagination storage unit that I'd like to work on.
Geri: Did a special person in your life inspire you to write?
MJ: I began writing for my oldest son, Nick. That inspiration became not just Nick, or my other
2 children, but all young adults.
Geri: Have you written any books based on a true life story?
MJ: Not yet! But, that's one of those stories that's on a back burner. I have 35 pages on
this book, based on my life as a Navy wife, and the ups-and-downs that come along with that,
from a humorous viewpoint.
Geri: Who is your favorite author?
MJ: Steven King, but, I'm finding that Dean Koontz is also creeping up that proverbial ladder.
I love a good horror story, and Steven King's Dark Tower series is my favorite!
Geri: Are your characters created from people you've known in real life?
MJ: My characters are based on people I know. The 4 main characters in my series,
"Nicho, Micah, Tonia, and Daiam" are based on my 3 children, Nick, Mic(short for Michael)
Toni, and Toni's best friend Diamonds...Yes! That is her real name!
Geri: How many books have you written?
MJ: At this point, 3! But, I love where my Denicalis Dragon Chronicles is going!
Geri: How did you feel the first time you were published?
MJ: I almost cried! Having been a parent most of my adult life, it was absolutely
liberating!
Geri: Do you have any current work in progress?
MJ: I've started book 4 in my series. But, I can't seem to sit down long enough to do any of
my writing. I've been all about market, market, market...especially since Book 3 "DRAGON'S TEAR"
has been released in April, 2008.
Geri: What are some links to your websites?

Geri: Do you have any writing goals set for the future?
MJ: I'd love to not quit my job, but to work part-time, and write part-time!
Geri: Are you exactly where you want to be in your writing career?
MJ: Yes!
Geri: What are some factors that can help authors reach their dream of accomplishment?
MJ: Believe in yourself! Believe that you can do it, then get your butt out there, and just
do it!
Geri: Have you ever experienced writer's block?
MJ: Yes!
Geri: What advice can you give to prevent writer's block?
MJ: Write everyday, discipline yourself!
Geri: As a child, did you have favorite books?
MJ: I loved "Nancy Drew." But, my all-time favorite was "Frosty: A Raccoon To Remember"
by Harriet Weaver.
Geri: As a child, did you enjoy reading?
MJ: Absolutely!
Geri: If you had the opportunity to one day live the life of a famous author, who would it be?
MJ: I'd have to say J.K. Rowling, not because she's rich, but because she made a difference
to billions of readers. What an awesome feeling that must be!
Geri: Many authors feel self-satisfaction, a sense of achievement after publishing a book,
can you relate to such feelings?
MJ: Very much so! I'm beginning to believe that I too can make a difference!
Geri: How do you balance your current occupation with your writing?
MJ: There's supposed to be a balance? I knew I was doing something wrong. I try hard
not to set goals, so that I don't disappoint myself.
Geri: How did you feel at your first book-signing?
MJ: I was pretty nervous. It was a pretty, strange feeling!
Geri: If you won the lottery tomorrow, would your plans for writing change?
MJ: I would probably quit my full-time job, and write full-time!
Geri: As writers, we begin with a manuscript, and end with promotions, what was your
most difficult task?
MJ: Promotions!
Geri: Some writer's need to listen to music, or prefer a particular scenery when writing,
Do you have a particular scenery to focus on?
MJ: I prefer silence, No TV, No Music, No distractions!
Geri: If you had the chance to publish in a different genre, what would it be?
MJ: A children's book, with my own illustrations, and maybe a horror book too!
Geri: Thank you very much for your time, it has been delightful!
MJ: Your welcome Geri, I enjoyed it!
