I've had a few members ask me about posting things that are happening on other social sites, yahoo groups, etc. So I thought others may be wondering the same thing since so many other sites actively prohibit such practices.

Let me say that, anything which is of benefit to our members, is important to me. I want this community to be author and reader friendly and as non-restrictive as possible.

WRDF is not going to limit your contacts, friends, events, or promotions. With the exception of the guidelines stated in our NEW MEMBERS PLEASE READ forum, you are free to express your likes, dislikes, opportunities, and marketing strategies.

I have always believed that a quality product, in this case, a quality community such as WRDF, has nothing to fear from healthy competition. In fact, we invite our competition to join our community and to set up their pages, thereby giving our members a preview of their activities and opportunities.

As writers we need to help each other as much as we can. And our members deserve the best we can offer in the way of content, information, and promotional opportunities.

So, please, don't feel uneasy talking about what you're doing on other sites, or what adventures you may be starting. We care about you and your success, and we're not so arrogant as to think WRDF is the only quality community on the web or that we can provide you everything you need.

We wish you all success, and we'll do whatever we can to help.

I love WRDF and all that it stands for. This new addition to the WRDf format is well accepted from this writer/author. Like others here, I feared saying anything about a competitive organization that I'm actively involved in, seeing as that site is getting results. I didn't want to send waves, so to speak.

One of the goals all authors strive for, is the promotion of their book(s). Part of that task is reaching out to more than just one or two groups such as WRDF. There are many out there, a lot of them are pay venues. Most new authors cannot afford these, specially when there's no guarantee of sales.

Thank you for this opportunity to spread the word about other author related groups.

Chris, Thank you, and I hope you will visit with us often in the future.
Ernest, You betcha, writers need all the support they can get. I have pages on several sites besides my own. Exposure is essential to marketing. In fact, when we talk about what's going on everywhere on the net, we open doors for each other. Thank you both for your expressions.

As I've said before, WRDF is my favorite of all the sites and loops I'm on and those I read to promote myself and my books--this is a tough job! I appreciate the open and generous attitude of the creator of this unique, vibrant site. I challenge anyone to find one better. I don't believe anything I could create or join or announce would come close to competiting with WRDF. The main thing a site must be wary of is stagnation. Well, this site is certainly not that! something new all the time. Thanks, Lynda

Well done, Lynda. That kind of attitude can only attract people. Other quality sites will attract people too, of course. But it's really great not to be nervous about putting one's foot in it by promoting incorrectly. A toast to our success m'dear!

Thank you Geri, Zaynah, and Charlotte.
You ladies all contribute so much to the wonderfully inviting personality of this community. I hope this policy will help others not to feel nervous and to participate fully by just being themselves. After all, how can we get to know each other well, if half of what's going on in our lives can't be mentioned? Much success to all of you. Lynda

I am glad to see I am not alone in this opinion, Lynda. We run a pretty open site at Romance at Heart too. Great minds travel in the same paths, and when you are working for the benefit of authors and publishers, to put unreasonable limits on them is not a good way to promote them or help them. Personally, I have never understood sites that do that, but maybe it is a control thing...
