As a writer, I find when I'm stressed my diet goes out the window as I work toward deadline. What do you do to stay motivated and on your diet? I think the battle is mental, spiritual and physical. I'm looking for suggestions over at my Losing Weight From a Writer's POV if you want to leave a comment there or here.
Now that's the mindset I need to adapt. Instead I write, write, eat, edit, eat, write, eat, write...I think it's because writing loses some of the joy when I have to do it, and eating gives me back a small measure of it.
Oh I do love food! Even though I walk the dog for 40 - 60 minutes a day (plus do at least 20 minutes of walking during the work day -- from work to the Metro -- I can't seem to get more pounds off. I've lost about 15 and have another 50 pounds to go.
For the first half of my life, I was 20 to 30 pounds underweight, but after a car accident my body seems to have shut down in some respects (the doctors said this is not uncommon)...and the pounds pilled on.
I even bought Julia Cameron's THE WRITING DIET: Write Yourself Right-Size....thinking it might provide further motivation....but have I read the book yet? Well, no....
I've also cut back on my calories (cutting out junk)....That was two weeks ago and I'm still waiting for the fat to fall off...
I've over 50 years old and figure it goes much slower after 50..
40 pounds! That is awesome. I think if we thought about our health rather than our looks it might help us stay on target! Since I posted this discussion, I've lose 7 pounds.
OOPS I forgot to tell you, somtimes I do not even eat, I forget to eat because I am on here for more than 8 hours a day creating books and stories i forget to eat. Duh? My husband says I should weigh 10 lbs by now, but I am not that small. hahhaa!!
